Best herbivore flake or pellets?

Seaweed Extreme is fantastic. I use the medium size. I've never had luck getting fish going for nori. Granted I'm not super consistent with it-- but they go crazy for Seaweed Extreme every time. I have it on its own auto feeder to make sure my tangs and my moorish idol get their fiber.

Thanks. My tang likes nori, I’m just not there to add it every day. :)

I have a Blonde Naso Tang that would've rather starve than eat anything other than Nori/Sea Veggies from a clip. Tried getting it to eat different flake foods, different mysis blends, pellets of all types, etc., nothing worked.
On a whim, I picked up some Vitalis Algie pellets from my LFS. Problem solved. All of my fish love it, including my Blonde Naso which went straight for it and now eats any pellets I put in the tank, even the pellets it refused to eat before.

I can see it now, a nice hot cup of algae tea in the morning, and the fish swimming around in a caffeine frenzy...
I guess that’s better than throwing a bunch of fish, squid, clams, etc in a blender and then making smoothies

Thanks. I leary of trying it since if it’s a fail, I’ll probably end up getting a new coffee grinder anyway since my wife does not care for nori. lol

It does not do a perfect job. I still end up crumpling in may hand a bit sometimes. I do a whole pack at a time.

Dried nori is very buoyant until it gets rehydrated.

Dried nori is very buoyant FYI.

Was thinking of possibly autodosing it into a floating ring as I currently do for flake. Could even consider putting a silica bag into the feeder to keep it dry and nonsticky.

My adult daughters were over on Father’s Day, and we were sitting in the living room when I heard the sound of the Eheim deliver some flake. I mentioned it to them and they were amazed in the transformation in the chromis from calmly moving around the tank to a crazed feeding frenzy.

The big chromis gets right under the ring and attacks it. I think I might lose a finger if I tried anything nearby. The other two race around the tank getting scraps that the powerhead shoots across the tank.

It’s quite an event! lol

My dry food is fed using an Avast Plank. So it sits in the feeding tube until it is wet enough to sink and be pulled into the tank with the sicci mini that drives the thing. It is actually a rather slick design.

The feeding ring will work. The fish will pull the nori down and it’ll get soaked up relatively quickly.

I’m looking for thoughts on what foods for an auto feeder are best for herbivores such as a yellow tang and one spot foxface.

I’ve seen threads in the past, but brands come and go. I already feed sheet nori and Sprung sea veggies pieces and macro from the refugium.

My fish won’t touch Formula 2 flake.
Ok I am going to give not only my Opinion but what the fish especially my tang go nuts for . My Tang is a Valamingi it loves sheet Nori, Colbalt Mysis Spirulina, and vitalis Algae pellets ? My Watchman Goby. And Diamond goby eat all above except Nori probably because its on a clip and pig face Tang wont let them at it. My Lyretail Anthes will not eat the pellets only the flake. That being said maybe they don't know they are not supposed to like shrimp ha ha

Your a Heretic. 😎

Dry foods are the main reason most tanks are not immune and need to quarantine. But thats just my opinion. 😃

I don't think your tanks are immune, I think you have prophylactic levels of copper in them from all of the art you USED TO make.... and I suspect it is wearing off. The remedy is clear. Build more copper fish!
