I recently found a few pictures of this lobophyllia and I have never seen colors like this on one. What are your thoughts and opinions of it?

Please share whatever nice lobos or other "collectors" brain corals you might own or know about.

Is there a way to de saturate an image to get a better read of what it actually looks like? With it being shopped do you think that it will look so much worse that it won't be one of the best lobos we have seen?

When they doctor it that heavily, it’s a mediocre piece at best and they know it. That’s why they doctor it.

Update. I purchased a frag of that lobo because I found it at a cheap price I thought I might as well take the gamble. It just arrived and I don't think it's disappointing. Here is a picture taken in 100% blue with orange lense and in full white. I will post pictures when it has fully settled.

this is my favorite, saturation turned so high you can even see :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

when the background is that blue, you know they are adjusting the pictures

Picture right after being introduced to the tank. First picture 100% blue with orange lense. Second 100% white.

it's still a small piece. Even if it only gets 80-90% as bright as the sales pictures it will still look insane. We will just have to wait and see for when it grows out.

That's typical. Reds and purples are actually brown, blues are an artifact from the light.

You learned a lesson that most people never learn. At what expense? Whatever you paid for that coral.

A pot of times colors are simply doctored to get the naive to part with their money.

That's not necessarily true. What ever color it was when you got it was a result of that person's tank chemistry. Which means that's the best it ever was for him as well, everything you saw in the photo was smoke and mirrors.

Personally I like the WYSIWYG offers as you then know exactly what you'll receive. However, I have been stung by gorgeous colous and bought corals. When received they're not bad but not like the photo - we live and learn.
