I'll be setting my new tank pretty soon and I don't want to use oolite sand again since it blows around quite a bit and I plan on having more flow in the new tank. I was wondering what you guys use and what you think is the best medium size grain sand. Post pics if you have them. Thanks guys/gals.

I agree with Tahoe61, but the price Marine Depot is charging for a 40 pound bag is absolute robbery ($72). About $40 a bag is the going rate, some will even ship free if you order over $50!

same ^ i have the fiji pink and love it, ive got alot of flow in the tank aswell never blows around

I really like Tropic Eden Reef Flakes but it's always sold out!

If you put larger grained sand on top of smaller grained stuff, will it stay on the top? Sort of like the big potato chips always settle out to the top in a bag of chips?

^Yes^

On another note... The special grade is a large grade sand being 1-2mm. The original grade is medium grade with a max size of 1mm and the majority being less than 0.66mm. Oolite is a fine grade being less than 0.60mm. The increased size provides less surface area and a "looser" fit that will allow more oxygenation of the substrate and at more depth.
