Best Overall Full Spectrum LED Bar?

ahhh $400 more dollars for the same light with wifi control. Quanta pro bars don't have a dimming function from factory but one can be added. Their par to money ratio is unbeatable.

The Quanta and Blade aren't comparable. Quanta and XHO are for sure though.

Does anyone know how to mount quanta or orphek led light bars onto the reefi uno 2.0? I have a 59” long tank and want to get 3 or 4 unos and mount led light bars on them. Either have to use the wall mount or ceiling hanging option as my tank has eurobrace on it. Help?

If you contact Daniel he might have an option. Other than that probably need to 3d print something or diy it.

You'll probably need a mounting rail and from there you can mount the Quanta's. @k.cleven on IG makes great mounts for Quanta bars that fit a lot of different rails, 8020 profiles, etc....

There is nothing on their site - can you elaborate?
The new Quanta Helix are dimmable out of the box. He launched a separate website for the new line, but no Tropic spec.

Re: the older gen Quanta Pro’s, I’ve heard people had good luck with the dimmable and controllable outlets/plugs. Kasa is one brand. But I haven’t tried it for myself.

I’m currently putting my tank together. I was trying to decide between Kessil and Radion. Solution? Got both… 3 A500’d and 5 Radion pro XR30’s. I’m anxious to see what it’ll look like.

Yea sort of doesn't make sense
Only thing the outlet can control is the ac side.
These drivers dim the DC side, when dimmable

Think about the dimmers that control the lights in your ceiling, they control the AC side and yet it all works.

Either way...

I believe this was more of importance: "The new Quanta Helix are dimmable"

It seems the PROs are out of stock on the "Blue+" which perhaps suggests that they are being phased out?

Will they maintain both product lines? Who knows.

That's triac dimming and is designed as a " set".

And it's still hit and miss by brand and driver ( fixture/ bulb) as to working and how well it works.
Other method uses a 10v DC signal and of course extra wires to carry it.

Of course one can " pulse" the AC but these drivers aren't exactly designed to be " unplugged and plugged back in" at say 500Hz.

Yea it's just a mystery to me. That it " works" is known. Wether it's healthy is?

The technique has been used for years though.

O/T ....sorry

I'm pretty sure a Lutron Dimmer and el cheapo recessed lights from Home Depot were not designed as a "set"

...unless you meant something else.

Well a set in a loose sense. Lights listed as "dim-able by" and a triac dimmer were meant to work together ..
A meanwell listed as non-dim-able was not meant to work with any dimming technology really.

Dimming your lights isn't as simple as installing any dimmer switch, however. Not all dimmers work for all fixtures and lamps. With so many options on the market, it is essential to pair the right dimmer switch with the right fixture and light bulbs to achieve proper functionality. Incompatibility can result in problems such as flickering lights, bulbs that do not dim properly, or even the generation of heat due to a poorly regulated flow of electricity.

Avoid such issues by ensuring your dimmer switch is compatible with your light bulbs, whether using incandescent, halogen, or LED bulbs.
It's a common misconception that any LED dimmer can be paired with any dimmable LED bulb. Unfortunately, that is not the case. To ensure compatibility between specific LED lamps and dimmer switches, check the manufacturer's spec sheet or compatibility sheet for the lamps and/or the dimmer switch.

#1 – If you bought a finished LED fixture or bulb, check to make sure the packaging specifically states that it is dimmable. This should be stated in the description or the technical specifications of the light. If you use a non-dimmable LED on a dimmer you will get a lot of flickering and damage the bulb, limiting it’s lifespan.

In a very loose sense yes.

That is true.

I sent an email this morning directly to Quanta asking if they are aware of anybody dimming their PROs

The lights in your ceiling are supplied AC power, not DC. So dimmable AC outlets and AC light fixtures and bulbs work fine with those. The DC power supply of a light bar is NOT the same thing.

The lights over your tank are also supplied AC power, there is a driver in between to convert it to DC for the LEDs - same with lights in the ceiling.

That's not to say that either is guaranteed to work with a dimmer.

Did you get these running yet?

Yep. With Kasa dimmer timer you can do ramp up/ramp down in 25% increments.

Yeah, I did. It’s an awful lot of light. I had planned on 5 Radions, but think 4 is more than enough for now.
