Bulb combination: 4 blue plus , 4 coral plus , 2 actinic.

What is your recommendation about bulbs combination?
Time schedule?
Should I use all 10 bulbs , or 8 is enough?

At 70cm width I'd probably go with 10 if all SPS

And yes , 90% is SPS , 10% is LPS at the floor of the tank, at the sides.

I also have PAR meter

I run 7-8 hours all on/off.................no dawn dusk

If you want a longer photo period you can do around 6 hours of peak and then 1.5-2 hours of lower par on each end. 350 at mid level of the tank is a good place to be. If you're planning for very low rock work and want to put acros on the floor then you can lower the fixture accordingly.

@Big E good morning ,I forgot to ask you....I saw in Italian Facebook group ,that some user shared technical info about your method...i did saw in some psot i did saw tgat you have some rocks in your sump, is it cryptic zone ?

Alos ,i didn't saw nothing about mechanical filtration (filter socks ,roller mat) - are you using one of this ? Is it working well with cryptic method ?

The rocks in the sump have some sponges, mainly yellow and some filter feeders but I wouldn't call it a cryptic zone. They get ambient light from windows and tank lights. The only reason there is some rock in the sump is because there aren't any rocks in the display.

I use very little rock...........approx 35 pounds for my fully loaded display. Frag tank may have about 15 pounds which is a separate system.

No type of filter socks or mechanical filtration. I haven't use any of that for decades.

I can't read the snap shot you posted as it's Italian, so I can't verify that.

HI Ed.. quick question: are you still dosing only alkalinity and calcium, or do you also add other elements (like boron, potassium, iodine, iron, manganese, strontium, etc.)? I’m curious if you’ve noticed any visible differences in your SPS when adding these trace elements, or if you keep things simple.

I don't dose trace elements, just alk and calc.

I have never dosed trace elements as a program of any sort.

I have ICP tests from the past and none of the important elements were depleting as I do weekly water changes.

Iodine, Boron, Potassium, Strontium no change/depletion

Manganese, Iron was not detectable per ES ICP tests from day one. I may do an MS test just to see where they are.

When I have had acros stall out or die there has never been any correlations with trace elements. I suspect it has more to do with the Microbiome of each corals symbiotic bacteria that is off or dying more connected to a viral or bad bacteria in the system.

I've never had a whole Sps system crash in 25 years.

Should you continue adding potassium to the water change?

Are you still using your seafood and nori mix?

Can you tell me if you've changed anything about your management—carbon, resins, food, etc.—and maybe, if you can, show us some photos. I'm very curious.
