On Friday I made my own frag rack which was super easy with some 1/8" thick acrylic. Drew out the dimensions I wanted, cut the acrylic and clamped the short side down while I heated up the acrylic with a small flame from my Portable Dremel Soldering Iron and bent it 90 degrees. Used these Coated Neodymium magnets and it worked fairly well with my 10mm glass. Just glued 2 magnets directly onto the acrylic and 2 magnets on some Matrix Casino $1 chips I had laying around LOL! Also added thin layer of felt as well. Had to get it ready for the frags I was gonna pick up from the Corals Farmers Market!

Need some help to ID some corals as not sure if they have specific names or just use generic IDs?

Does the bottom torch look like a gold torch?
Zoa looks like my smoldering cauldron zoas. First is a ricordea Florida. Hard to tell on the torch. Pic doesn’t make it look gold.

Hey, I've really enjoyed the thread. I have a 60g cube also, I absolutely love the look of that sump. I didn't notice it when I was putting my system together, only the other Trigger sumps that are rectangle. I ended up with a used sump from a local builder and had to extend my cabinet bottom out the back of the stand to accommodate it, not ideal.

That frag rack came out great, nice use of the poker chips as the outside magnet mounts, ingenious! Same thing with the accessory holder, and the doser shelf. You're right that the custom skills from the race car can transfer over to the tank, it's all about thinking outside the box.

Now, about that car... I'm an old DSM guy, so I'm not going to give you too much praise :D but yeah, it looks awesome. Love the wastegate dump right next to the exhaust, and right at the manifold no less. Can't imagine how loud that is. I was surprised to see a full hood tho, thought you would have had an exit hole for them. I never had a project as full blown as yours, but I do know how tough on the wallet it is to have these 2 hobbies at once lol. Excellent work on both man, looking forward to seeing more.

Nice work. :)

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the kind words and im glad you enjoyed my tank journey so far! :) I have always loved the 1G and 2G Talons as I had and still have a bunch of friends who drag them all day long! The hood has not yet been cut as it is still an ongoing project. The dump and up-pipe out the hood is actually more quiet than having it under the tunnel of the car since under the car creates an echo and especially when it backfires...And yes! 2 holes in the pocket and all the money is flowing out! :( But I am definitely living a good life! ;)

Same here, wasn't big on the Eclipse or the Laser. I actually owned 2 Galant VR4s over the years. 2 years ago I got sick of shifting in my STi, traded it in for a DCT Audi S4 ;) That's really interesting about the sound on your car, I wouldn't have thought about it that way, but it makes sense. You need to post a video of it once you get it all finished!

On the flip side, this morning before work when the lights were off, noticed what seems to be some RTN/STN on the base of the only SPS frag that I have. Opposite side is still encrusted on the frag plug and I can still see polyps. Was out of town on Saturday and came back Sunday night but did not notice it. Snapped a pic of it earlier when the lights barely turned on below...what should I do? Will check parameters later when I am back home...

What's your Alk at and has it swung recently? Might be a bit too early for sps, I've read you want to wait until coraline is really taking off as a sign the tank can support sps.

do you guys think that because that area doesnt get light that this issue is occurring? I have seen huge colonies of SPS out there where the base is all white but still growing...

Hard to say. My huge monti colony is white in areas it is shaded. A frag that small shouldn't be. Likely, it came from a tank with parameters not quite like yours, and in adding it to your tank it got a bit PO'd. Alk and Mag are a bit higher than I try running. Most now I think are running alk a bit lower, closer to the 8-9 range. Which is what I target. 8.5, 420, 1350 is what I tend to run around.

Quick question: I have 2 MP10Ws that are on perpendicular sides running at around 50%-60% reef crest mode 1/3 way down from the top of the tank and seems like im not getting enough flow. Should I turn it up more or are there strategic ways to place them? Not much movement at the surface of the tank...

At least you were smart enough to use a 4piston head. Probably best Honda heads you can buy. Made any passes yet or no ? I'm glad to see you stayed B and didn't go K honestly.
