Because it has so much control and my corals are very happy since I put it in my tank

Biggest mistake was with my first tank . I didn't clean off my base rock I was using because I thought the debris/gunk in it would cycle my tank better .... nope just gave me hair algae the whole time the tank was up and it never looked nice ever ... horrible experience

My biocube that I have now is all base rock minus maybe a pound or so

Worst mistake in the aquarium hobby:
Putting a kribensis cichlid with my motoro and reticulated rays. It tore up the rays pretty bad overnight and I ended up losing them to bacterial infections over the following few days.
Worst reefing mistake:
Trusting a 20 dollar off brand eBay special powerhead. Stray voltage was so bad that I nearly lost my entire tank full of hammer and various torches. I only ended up losing an 8 head aussie gold torch.

Second guessing myself, and then listening to advice from the LPS guy, I'm glad I only listened. I can think of at least a dozen times, from test kits to lights to skimmers, like " you don't need. A skimmer if you're doing monthly WC's, or if your buying MH lights from me you'll never grow any corals." The best BS I got the owner of the LPS said " first you ask to many questions, only one question per day, and you need to trust your LPS guy!" My response was, so I should take you out for a steak dinner! And, of course he replied YES! Most definitely!

Im still new but the worst aquarium hobby was that my hob filter slowly leaked and there was eventually a damp part on the ceiling below.

I would ask my lfs employee a question I knew the answer to just to see her response. It was always wrong and she would tell me things all the time like " I always do that or you don't need that . Or that is a blank" all wrong all the time ... crazy how many people work at fish stores and know very little ..

For fish, I go to an all fish and coral store. No dry items. So I know the fish have to be good quality.

Starting off with an all in one tank only to add a sump later and have to upgrade all the equipment to go along with it. Also starting without an apex.

I just dont get the apex and controllers, I never saw the point to it. Why cant you just walk up to the tank and push the button or just un plug it? Whats different?

I have a reeflink and love it .. so much quicker

Maybe ill think about upgrading once I get a lot of corals.
