Added a new frag today. I think the fact that I'm posting about corals during the Superbowl is indicative of a problem. Reefer madness!

That was the most boring superbowl I have ever seen so no worries. Good choices for coral. Zoa, candy canes, and gsp are nuke proof. I have no idea about mushrooms lol. I use distilled bottled water for my tank. I have a 32 gallon and it costs me like 5$ per water change. Totally worth it. Having worked as an environmental engineer for a few years you do not want anything that can potentially be in your tap water in your tank.

Thanks Zofan. The Zoas still haven't opened but all of the other corals are doing fine. I understand the pitfalls of tap and I may start cycling in a more pure alternative. I was told that the tap water where I'm located can work so in my plight to keep things simple, I went with it. The fish and all other corals are doing fine except for the Zoas. Maybe they are the canary in the mineshaft. Only time will tell. Zoas were initially doing great but they've been closed for at least 10 days now.

Nah lol. Zoa are basically immortal. Based on the ones you have I wouldn’t worry to much about them not opening. Until you get into the stupid high end stuff if they aren’t melting don’t worry. I had some CB white zombie zoa stay closed for four months and then open back up and do fine (until a crab who has now been banished decided they were food). Could be any number of things. In a biocube I would try moving them higher up. Zoa like flow. Mine are getting blasted and they’re open 24/7

Edit: I have all the corals you do (my mushroom is super new to me) and my candy canes will wig out before my Zoa if something is wrong. Zoa are just weirdos. Who knows why they do what they do.

hi,did you check for zoa eating nudi's? a quick freshwater temperate dip will knock off ,treat them all as toxic ,glasses ,wash hands 3x ,dont touch face,not to scare..just be safe

Hmmm. I was told to get them away from flow as a possible solution. Maybe we are stereotyping the Zoa and they aren't all alike? Some like flow some don't? Good to hear they are not doomed though. My whole cube has pretty good flow through. Hopefully they will come around. I won't sweat it for now based on your encouraging words. Thanks Zoafan.

hi,did you check for zoa eating nudi's? a quick freshwater temperate dip will knock off ,treat them all as toxic ,glasses ,wash hands 3x ,dont touch face,not to scare..just be safe

What's a nudi fishguy? My temp stays pretty consistent around 78 - 80. I don't touch them and only moved them once after they closed.

a zoa eating nudibranch ,they are small slug like ,and mimic the color of zoa they are on,google,and take a look about an hour after lights out.

It’s the stock lighting lol. I have a cheap kit that has several orange and yellow lenses and a clip to hold them over my iPhone camera. If you want to see what your coral really looks like go to Walmart and buy a set of 5$ orange safety glasses. It filters out the blue lights. It makes your reef come alive.

Round Two . . . My first attempt at a reef tank didn't go so well so I purchased premixed saltwater This time and upgraded the stock lighting system to 24 watt full spectrum white and blue LEDs. Corals seem to be much happier now.
