is there any others worth a look

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef, John

Do you mean protein skimmer or bio-pellet reactor?

I can't find a RO "150" bio-pellet reactor.

What is nitrate and phosphate currently running and your end goal?
Ime it doesnt take a lot of bio pellets to get to optimal levels with a small amount if the starting load is low.

I only use a 1/4 cup on my 50 gallon when combined with my fuge and skimmer.

I use the somatic media reactor, and maybe have it filled a 1/6th. Easy to open small foot print.

Take a look at the Aquamaxx BP reactor. I've been using one for about 5 years now and really like it. It's simple and doesn't take a lot of water to keep the pellets moving.

They look good for the money don't they! does the holes in plastic plate inside the reactor get blocked often? And you have to buy the pump and pipe don't you"

im in the uk England so don't know cost of shipping (if marinedepot ) ship! and the fees/tax that customs rip you off with!

New tank, i would not start with biopellets.

Wait 6 months-year before moving to carbon dosing.

It takes time for the denitrifying bacteria to work out how many where to locate. Throw some carbon in the mix before they are settled often leads to tank issues harder to fix than removing nutrients.

Ahh ok just that the local shop has just set up few new tanks and all running bio pellet reactors" Whot else would help on a new tank setup then to keep things stable and nitrates/phosphates down

When I was looking at biopellets reactor I liked Accell aquatic. However glad I opted against one. I don't think you should add this until your tank is established or you find your nitrates are too high to manage with a skimmer, flow, or activated carbon. If your starting with dry rock, you'll be looking to input nitrates and find it impossible to register on the test, even without a biopellet reactor. This is why most ppl now have Dinos brought on by lack of biodiversity in the tank along with low nutrients. Don't be scared of letting the tank get dirty early on it will help your rock colonize and later if your unable to manage your nutrients then go for it. I just don't like that you can have a bacteria crash if you remove the biopellets too fast.

hi ashish I was just worried of getting to much algae because new setup" yes will start with reel reef rock I think mate" I thought the new tank cycle would add all the bacteria/nutrients I wonted by using ATM Colony or doctor tims

I had the exact same mindset, I use a salifert nitrate test kit and never registered nitrates until 6 months when I dosed it and now I dose every 1 month to keep it above 5PPM. keep in mind I had no algae show up until I increase nitrates and all I did was prolong the tanks maturity and stability. So what if you have some diatoms and hair algae, its either that of dinos or cyano. At least the other snails such as turbos moan it down like a terminator. I'll send you some pictures.

+1 - Slow down and don't expect a show tank for over a year (longer if you get Dinos and have to recover)

whot id dinos anyways? sorry new to marine!

Sorry, I was referring to my own experience of starting with dry rock, and then limiting Nitrates too much (carbon dosing). I found myself with a case of Dinos; a fight lasting more than 4 months. A great education, but I don't ever want to go through that again.
