I recently purchased a yellow tang and ultra phantom clownfish and immediately put them in a qt tank. I’ve been slowly dosing copper, increasing to therapeutic levels over 5 days (currently on day 2). Unfortunately the yellow tang is now showing signs of black ich. From what I’ve read to treat I need to use Prazipro.
My question is has anyone treated black ich with copper or is prazipro the only method? Also if prazipro is the only method, can it be dosed with copper or should I do 2 50% water changes to remove copper and then dose prazipro?
Thanks

I hesitate to mix meds. Two solutions I’d consider:

1) Removal of copper as you describe and treatment with prazi

2) Prazi baths per bottle instructions for relief until you can treat properly post-copper

If the dish aren’t showing signs of copper or velvet, maybe the former is easier. That said, oftentimes with velvet the insertion points look black before the mucous coat responds with white spots—- can you provide a photo real quick for ID purposes?

Tough to get a good picture but you can somewhat see two dots under the top fin on the body. Most of the spots are above the eyes
