About the time I sold my FOWLR (1990) protein skimmers were gaining popularity but may were powered by ozone. In other words, the air creating the bubble stream was ozoneated d(sp?). Is this a thing or a thing of the past?

Less common, but using ozone is still "a thing" 🙂

I used ozone and a protein skimmer back in the day. I eventually built an ozone reactor because it seemed like the ozone made the skimmer less efficient. I eventually stopped using ozone because I found it was too efficient at reducing dissolved organics needed by corals and other life in the tank. . I still use a skimmer, but not the monster I would have used back in the 90's.
