I’m currently out of town and have family watching my tanks. Sent me a picture of my blasto and almost all the flesh is gone. Looked amazing 2 days ago before I left. Any ideas?

What are the water parameters (salinity, temp, alk, cal, pH, po4)?

Any chance someone in your family dumped something in the tank?

I don’t think they would dump anything in the tank. They’ve been around it and love it, just don’t know how to take care of it.

Everything looks okay, except nitrates are a bit high. However, blastos are very hardy, so I think it is something else. What lighting are you using? Do you know how much par it is getting?

I have the current reef LEDs, the dual strips. My school instructor actually just ordered a PAR meter and I might see if I can pay him to borrow it. No idea what my PAR levels are now. Could too intense of light do that do you think?

I heard current LEDs don't provide enough light for most corals. It might be low in par, so a par meter should help you. For now, I would continue to keep the water parameters stable and leave it alone.
