Bleached Gig/Haddoni

Good morning…long time reefer getting my motivation back and looking for some guidance. The downward spiral started here…

Here we are a few years later and the itch is back…tank went he** in a hand basket, from bubble algae, cyano, dinos, heater malfunctions…went thru it all. I used vibrant with great results, but lost all corals, but my Nems survived. I’ve added a few softies over the last few weeks and they show great polyp extension and some growth…My gig and Haddoni have remained shrunken and extremely bleached(really amazed they have survived to this point).

looking for some guidance on getting them back in shape…have been doing regular water changes and parameters in check…feeding weekly…is this just a long waiting game or is there something that I can be doing to improve their health quicker…any ideas?thanks for help!

Feed them fresh seafood like shrimps and scallops give them lower light until they start to color up then slowly increase the light intensity :) working with a bleached gig right now :)

Returning to former glory can be a long slow process. Frequent small feedings will likely speed up the process. If I feed my gigs (Not for a long time), I make sure to really kick up the flow. I don’t feed mine though. I can’t remember last time I tried to feed them. Mine also bleached from neglect a few months ago. Throw a 5k led spot on it, even if it’s through the front of the glass lol.

Here’s mine bleached from a few days ago. Little blue on far right got chomped my mp40 a month or two ago. Half size now lol. Purple on far right climbed under rocks for a month. Came out a couple weeks ago. All 7 still kicking but 5 have bleaching going on. Can take time to recover but when fully acclimated they sure can go through a severe beating and still keep ticking.

Thanks Taylor T…I’ve had my gig about 10 years and I’m shocked it’s still alive, shows how tough they are once acclimated. I’ll keep a progress record and would like to see it fully recover.
