I feed new fish immediately. They are usually half starved at the LFS. It is always a huge win to get them eating right away. even just a couple of bites. I went through a similar situation with a Green Clown Goby. Check out my tank thread for details.

Sorry for the loss...

Thanks! He didn’t look skinny at the store and healthy. He just started to not eat in my tank.

Sorry for your loss.

Did you see it eating at the store? That is one thing I normally check just to confirm they are eating.
No. The seller wasn’t even feeding the other fish. It takes me like 45 minutes to go there in car with my dad, so by the time we get there, the fish might have already been fed.

It doesn’t hurt to ask them to feed it before you buy it. Just a couple flakes. I’ve never been told no, they want the sale. Keep us posted on what you end up doing. Oh, when I got into this hobby in the mid nineties I never thought to ask. This advice is coming from me learning from my mistakes.

Yes, I would ask them any way. You will feel a lot more confidant in your purchase if you see it actually eating. You don't want them to just say "yes we fed them" you want to see it.

That’s good asking them to feed it while you watch it eat is better. Good luck.
Thanks! Yeah, it’s hard to do since it takes time for me to get there and they might have already fed the fish. I’ll see if I can ask them to do it.

Thanks! I’ll see if they can do that for me. I just don’t like the idea of feeding before transportation because it might die during transportation if fed before.
