I’m getting a 44 gallon tank for a blue crab from the grocery store. Are there anything that you guys think I need for it?

Success with these are often click bait videos.

Don't think a 44 gal is big enough for one (they're nine inchs in width on just the carapace alone.. most tanks are only a foot in depth so turning around is rough), these are ridiculously fast, like to burrow, and incredibly messy. I've seen them in pet stores but if sourced from a grocery store they typically are years cut off in health from the conditions and handling.

The biggest question is the salinity cause these are supposedly somewhere between brackish and saltwater.

Side note, 9 inch crab with very spikey carapace in an acrylic tank is going to be scratched beyond recycling...

He will live fine. I have raised quite a few from about an inch. They get to about the size of yours in a year or two. Just feed him a piece of fish every day or two. They get about 9" across.

I catch them every year. 😃

You will need a good filter as they are very sloppy eaters.

The tank is going to be a 30 inches long do you think that is big enough?

The tank is big enough. But as I said, they are sloppy eaters and waste more than they eat.
