Paracheilinus cyaneus I keep seeing photos of them as completely red and mine is too but has the filaments so I assume it is male. I noticed some photos show the males with actual blue. Do males get the blue eventually?

The blue is mainly seen when in display, are you sure yours is a blue flasher? Can you get a clear-ish photo of him?

I want to say yours is more likely a filamentosus which can be slightly blue but not overly blue when in display.
I looked at some photos, and I think you’re right. Ah that sucks I was excited for the possibility of some blue colouration

Actually I’m really not sure, the colouration looks more and exactly like this one

And what do u mean by, “in display”
“In display” is when a flasher wrasse flashes. Usually done for territorial reasons or courting. you’ll see your wrasse gain new colours you’ve never seen on them before displaying.
Here was mg old Cebu Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse that was in display.

This is actually a Paracheilinus lineopunctatus and not a cyaneus. They’re IDed from the tail, Lineopunctatus has a completed curved tail whilst Cyaneus has a crescent tail :)
