Hello everyone my blue hippo tang is acting weird swimming into the flow. He came out of QT with copper power a few days ago and was not swimming out in the open but hiding most of the time and today I noticed he’s swimming at the top of the tank into the flow. Today doses general cure for flukes but the tang was swimming into the flow before the general cure.

Purple tang, blue hippo tang, blue star leopard and Timor wrasse 30 days in copper power @ 2.3-2.4 ppm checked with Hanna checker

2 clowns in chloroquine phosphate for 14 days

General cure often has too low of content amount especially prazi to be effective. PraziPro more effective.
Are fish breathing normal or labored?
Please post a 20-30 second video under white light intensity, no blue of what you are seeing

I don’t have prazipro at the moment just general cure but I ordered prazi so next does will be with prazi

When you get it, apply at 85% of recommended dose and add air stone. At dosage, apply and allow to last 8 days, do water change and apply one more application lasting 8 days

Okay I should be getting it by tomorrow. So next week Thursday add prazi? Or how long should I wait in between? Also is the tang acting weird? I know hippo tangs do act a bit weird but I’m not sure if that’s concerning

do a water change and apply PraziPro. Hepatus looks to be stressed or intimidated possibly by another tank mate but cant clearly see it especially due t low light

Yeah the observation tank has no light on it, it’s lit by a window across from the tank but tomorrow I’ll try and get better photos of the hippo tang. The colors are a bit faded but I don’t see any spots or any damage to the body. He moved to the other corner of the tank but still swimming at the surface.

Consider removing plastic plants made from petroleum product and has sharp edges. What are you using for filtration?

Sure I’ll remove the plants. The filtration is a canister filter with sponges inside. The tank was cycled before the fish were placed inside

Problem with canister is its a mechanical filter and you want to have mechanical , biological and chemical to manage proper water quality. The canister will polish water and trap particles via the cartridge.
Chemical is what traps and breaks down chemical compounds such as feces and uneaten food often accomplished with use of carbon and GFO as examples
Biological is what utilizes the natural process of biological filtration such as use of ceramic nuggets, bio blocks, and microscopic bacteria surfaces as examples. Best it to add or use a hang on refugium such as Reef octopus or AquaMaxx unit and even add a hang on skimmer such as ice cap K1- or K2 100
