Bored? How about Mentoring a Newbie?

Btw, how is the main system?
Are you still running rowaphos? How long its been?
Very good, running Rowaphos in a bag, carbon in the reactor. Fish and corals look good. Another water change Wednesday. Working on the alkalinity testing now.

Ok, I pulled out the salt that came with the tank and tested it in 1 gallon of distilled water at 35ppt and the alk was 9.3, SO, the Coralife salt is my problem, not the testing. Tomorrow I will open another bucket of Coralife and test that. I'm really upset, a reefer should be able to test salt of all things!!

Latest Plan:
New RODI system will be installed Wednesday
Wednesday I will do the week 2 20% water change
I'm dosing 10ml of Reef Complete daily
Running Rowaphos and Carbon
Questions:
Will lights work long term?
Need to eventually figure out dosing?

Why are you deviating from our plan?
What's the reason for 40% water change on one day. And if you want to do it why not doing 40% right away instead of 2 20% during one day?
I apologize, I thought you said 20% weekly for 5 weeks?

no need for apologies my man I was asking to understand.
The plan was to do 20% water change weekly. Meaning once a week one 20% water change.
Wait..were you doing daily 20% water changes? No harm btw so do not panic
11 minutes ago I said, "Wednesday I will do the week 2 20% water change"
So that means that in week 1 I did a 20% water change, and in week 3 I will do a 20% water change.
Is that not what you wanted?
It's probably my poor grammar, sorry :(
I'm working really hard to follow your instructions as best I can.

My pincushion urchin is crazy!!

Lesson for newbies watching this thread:
Never trust your salt. I purchased 3 large buckets of CoraLife and after extensive testing have confirmed that all of it is bad. And never buy salt in a bucket. Apparently buckets have a tendency to settle and cannot be easily mixed. Buy in bags.
