Bored? How about Mentoring a Newbie?

Not sure if you saw this earlier:

- Lights are about 2 inches above the water. The only led's I am using are blue and white but I believe I can add more colors.
- Affirming the new mixed water paramaters: Alk - 7.4, Cal - 450, Mag - 1300
- Your current system parameters: Alk - 11.3(was 11.5), Cal - 385(was 355), Mag - 1095(was 1050)
- Did you get your new no3 po4 kits: Not yet, no3 - 10(was .5), po4 - 0
- Did you change the rowaphos location: Yes, it's now in the sock
- You still running carbon right: Yes, in the reactor

Just tested po4 with the new Hannah ULR and it is coming in at 47 ppb or .14 ppm.

Ta daa.
Very good. Leta keep the rowaphos bit more then. Once po4 drops below 0.1 we will remove it.

Btw am assuming your followed the direction exactly and the measurments are correct.
Whenever you finish test rinse the twat containers well with rodi or distilled water not tap water..
Yes i did. I will retest in a few days. Week 3 water change is tomorrow.

The more you spend time in the hobby the more you will appreciate the importance of test accuracy. Without good measurments it's hard to attempt to debug and issue..
You will see openions out there trying to rationalize inconsistency or assign less importance to accuracy for the sake of defending a tester or from feeling fatigued chasing the right answer.
I try my best to avoid that, with enough deep understanding there is always a path.
Some issues are still not understood, but do not give such judgment unless you seek scientific data that concludes the issue is not understood. If you reach such point you follow experince and seek guidance from people who run successful reefs.
Amen Brother

let me know how did your water change go today.

Good:
alk went from 11.3 to 11
cal dropped from 385 to 375
mag dropped from 1095 to 1035

Very good. Let's test mag and alk tomorrow.
At the moment your coral load is low so we cannot expect big alk consumption. The decrease in the alk is happening from the rowaphos and the water change mainly.
If mag stays low we will dose bit mag.
Will do, thank you
