He can stick to his principles and have a long drawn out battle with the company and his CC, or used the $2000 he saved from buying this tank, fix the issue himself and continue with his day. I mean its exactly what ProClear Aquatics would do if they ever offer to "fix" his tank. At this point he should take the L, return the product hes not 100% satisfied with and go with WB or some other reputable brand and go about his day.
I’m just trying to get a consensus on options. taking an L is probably dead last on my desired outcomes lol

If this is the design it’s a poor design and potential buyers should know. If it’s not the design then I’m being bamboozled and that’s a principle that I can’t not address.

Youve made your point by posting here and letting people know about the poor workmanship and CS from ProClear Aquatics. You have doubts on the fix suggested to you and dont want to take the risk, fair enough. You said it yourself that proving their design is poor or being bamboozled is something you cannot address, so getting them to make this right for you is out of the question...seems like taking the L and returning the tank you are not satisfied with IS the only option.

Mine is the same. I do believe it is supposed to be like this. I read another thread where they were told that it was to avoid dead spots.

What did you end up doing. Outside of this, the quality seems very good to me.

They offered to send a replacement tank and return mine in the delivered box/pallet. I said only if it doesn’t have those openings and is an actual newly made tank. They said ok.. then proceeded to ship me a tank that was made 1 month newer in 2020 and had the same openings.

So now I have 2 tanks and a stand that I’ve been trying to get my LFS guy to come pick up for 3-4 weeks to take with him back to ProClear.

The dead spots claim doesn’t make sense. People have a lot of biofilm at the top of these tanks from the overflow wier design alone and if there’s a leaky bulkhead or plumbing issue, you’re screwed, gotta empty the whole tank. Getting sand and other nonsense to settle in the overflow. To each their own, but if I had to keep it, I would add silicone over the holes.

I believe the plumbing in the overflow is siliconed in placed, or some other material used. There’s goo. But, like you said, I’m subject to all display water leaking if there were a bulkhead issue
You realize thats just a cover that hides bulkhead its not a overflow box. Tons of tanks just have bulkheads in tank. That plastic would never stand up to pressure of 180 gallons

With the leaky overflow, your sump will have to be able to hold entire volume of display tank unless you glue your drain and return inside the overflow. Any power shut off of outage will be a flood.
Done believe its an actual overflow its just a bulkhead cover

Yes because its a bulkhead cover not a overflow its not a aio

You realize a 99% of tanks today have sealed off overflows?..

I think the most amazing part of this thread, is that Cabercrombie responded to a 1 year old thread, and the OP responded to his response in less than 10 minutes. 😂

Well I saw a prompt for “you realize…” and then abercrombie throwing shade at another person.. and the post is indeed old.. guy must be having a day.

What happened with your 2 tanks and did you get another one from another manufacturer ?
Shipped the replacement one back, and sold the display and stand to a ProStar familiar person looking to move to a bigger tank, and paid ProStar the amount it sold for, and I was refunded. They transferred the buyer a warranty.

Sounds like a lot of extra effort but it worked out as a zero sum game, if you back out the cost of your time.

What tank did you end up buying?

I also had to google what throwing shade meant. Ha
