Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Good morning ! @Katrina71 , I have seen some people use “flex seal” for the inside of their stands, looks nice and helps keep spills contained a bit. As far as the outside of the stand , think about a marine grade polyurethane. They are a little pricey , but last for years and stand up to salt creep better than your standard enamels.
Thank you. I saw someone else had used that also.

One more thing off the list. 15.75"x15.75"x2.5" white shadowbox frame for controllers. Used, very good condition 15.00 including shipping.
That sounds cool! Off to google I go.

I was thinking about using some dowells on the back to hold it off the wall for cords. I am open to suggestions.
I saw Jake Adams do something like that with an old pallet on his old home tank.
Melev whipped something similar up too. Maybe you can steel some ideas there.

Dang. I wanna go shopping for lumber and Marine varnish.

And hair products.

Hello,

Wow I have missed soooo much lol but I’m catching up lol. I have never been grounded well by my parents lol been grounded by my family dr a few times :(, but as they say life goes on.

So is the new tank ready yet? I read a bunch (a lot lol like 11 pages I think), and then said hello so still have to finish, and I haven’t read to where your son opened the big box. It’s kinda interesting how fun long hair can be and then again a headache. Boys at my hs always tried to tie my hair to the back top of my chair. It was really bad when I had two in at once, some caught me a few times.

@saltyfilmfolks I have always been curious as to which method is better the slower sump return turn over or higher. I currently run my twin returns at about 70%, but I also run filter socks and then even smaller microfiber pads before the return pumps. Which the (socks and pads have to be washed once a week). It would be neat to find info or well detailed info about the different aspects (kinda like you stated, I guess more in depth for me lol). But like you as well I run the my return pumps higher, because I need that extra water movement for my sps.
I read a lot of the pros and cons for a long time in the triton Method and others. But overall I’ve seen both work. And both not work kinda.
Not enough and too much.

Personally I think the variable dc pumps are the way to go esp for newer reefers so you can experiment and find the sweet spot really.

I don't suggest it.

There is a 75 on here where he did it and has no issues but, it turned out it was insanely heavy to roll if I recall.

Just way too many forces at work to be safe in my opinion.

Ok guys this is above my skill level. Considering castors under this tank. Looking at about 1200lbs including tank and stand. Anyone happen to know the best way to do this? Bad idea?
@jsker i think came up with something.

I was doing the math and working on structure. The easiest solution I have come up with is essentially an angle iron pallet.

Hello,

I guess it’s all about the math now. We should all remember that time in math class where the teacher said someday this will either save your life or be useful.

i use math everyday..... so im guessing save my life?

I'm not an engineer for sure. I know some stuff, but 90 gallons of water would suck to be wrong with.
wait, i forgot. what the tank dimesions again?

It is actually 30x31x15. Plus the sump and ato.
so 60g. plus the sump on bottom.
at 1.025 SG, water weighs 8.54lbs per gallon.
Total Tank Water Weight: 512.4lbs
Sump Total Water Weight: Unknown sump capacity (also wont cause weight on top)
Rock weight:??
Sand:?

EDIT: that might actually just be the weight of all the water. because rock and sand will tank up water space.

My calculations are about 1200lbs total to go on castors...maybe
