Brown Algae on sand bed - new tank

Hi

I have set up a new tank (cade pro reef s2 1800), and currently nearing the end of a cycle. It has been a little over 8 weeks since the cycle started

I used dr tims, but had ammonia skyrocket, after 5 weeks I added some fish, and currently have 4 Barrier reef chromis, 2 clowns, melanarus wrasse & blue spot blenny

3 water changes have occurred in this time as well.

two days ago I added my first coral (small GSP frag) and that has convinced with this brown algae growth on the sand bed and rock surface.

I want to ask if this is something I need to urgently deal with, and if so what should I do. I am unsure if they are diatoms or not.

For context, all water is RODI water, the meter running at 0 TDSI.

Nitrites are 0.4, Nirates 5, Phos 0, ammonia 0, ph hovers between 8-8.1 and salinity is at 34.5

It is mostly diatoms. Your tank will go through many stages of uglies...be prepared for ugly sights. Just do your weekly water changes. Make sure your Nitrates don't go below 1-2. If you are using API test kit, I suggest buy a better kit like Salifert or Red Sea. Wait a few months before buying any more corals. The tank is still new. The GSP will be fine

Been using either Red Sea or Hanna Tests.

I am also running a tune 3182 algae reactor. Would you recommend keeping that going?

Running the algae reactor is ok. How old is the tank? Did your nitrites ever go to 0 and which test kit are you using? What test kit are you using for Phos? You don't want that number at 0

Nitrites are yet to go to zero, using the Red Sea tests for that

used the Hanna one for phos and it is stating zero, might try a Red Sea one as well though
