BTA Too deep into crevice ?

Hi reefers
I bought a red bta a few hours ago .
I placed him high in the tank , in a few hours time he is making a way to the bottom of the tank .
Now hes at the middle near a shaded crevice .
Im woried if he goes any deeper the anemone will be out my reach to grab him . No light is hitting there .
Should i be worried ? Or are they just fine finding them a well suited spot ?
Or could they use some help .

Give it a couple days… if your tank is stable he will be ok.

They like to be in a crevice (I believe that's where you will find them out in the sea). Mine lives in one - he disappears into it at night and comes out during the day. He's been in the same spot for around a year. A big fella now too.

I never had success with BTA’s until I got it through my thick skull to leave them alone. Once I did that, mine have been fine. If your tank is mature and stable , your nem will find a place it’s happy with and come out. Then any given time or day , it will move again ! Haha

BTA or Wandering Tentacles as I like to call mine love to move around, for no reason what so ever I can fathom. They will stay in one spot for months and then over night move 6 feet away (I got a big tank).

I do know that if they get into a spot where they are to close to my other stuff i will use a turkey baster and blast them with water several times a day, this usually encourages it to find another spot to occupy. I have had very good success moving them away from corals this way.

BTAs love securing their feet in crevices for protection. If its need more light it will extend outwards.

They decide where they want to go. Granted sometimes even where they decide is not optimal lol. Hence why some just perish no matter where they pick.

It may have not liked the the par or potentially the flow was too high. I placed mine at the very top and it loved it. Its always a toss up with these guys.

So ive let the anemone do its thing ...
It was still in a shaded area . Lost 80% of his size , losing polyps and no visual foot . Also not holding onto anything . Minimal contact with its foot .

I think he had no light for too long .
Looks all messed up

Ive put it into some kind of isolation box in a low light low flow area since its too weak to attach to anything .
Also if it woule to die i can more easy remove him from the tank .
