Hi Everyone,

I'd like to get some educated opinions on whether my tank is safe to use.

Please take a look at the attached pictures of both the bubbles inside the panel of my tank and the large chip I made while drilling my overflow box hole.

There are three very tiny bubbles on one of the long panels of my tank. The dimensions are 48" x 20" x 20"

The chip I made while drilling is quite significant, little less than 1/16" depth but it looks bad.

I would like to know whether the tank is safe for use with the 3 bubbles inside of the glass and the abnormally large chip I made while drilling one of the holes on the side panel.

Please let me know what you guys think, your thoughts will be much appreciated!

That hole is near the top, so I don't think it is going to be under that much stress from a bulkhead fitting. I would be careful not to put extra stress on the box when you attach the plumbing.

I would also take some sandpaper and clean up the edges of the hole and inspect it for hairline cracks. If there are cracks, then you do have a problem.

And if it has no water in it now I would test fill it outside on level surface just to be sure.

Those bubbles shouldn't make any difference if they are in the glass, just a fail during mfg.

The chipping on the hole you drilled looks fine. Just make sure the gasket covers it if it’s on the inside. If not, you may need to flip the bulkhead so the flange and gasket are on the unchipped side.
