Who knows. I've had mine for over a year now. It has split 4 times, but never any bubbles. Just enjoy it. Bubbles or not- they are still beautiful.

Just as we dont know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, we dont know why thye bubble up or why they dont bubble up.

Been searching myself for days on this topic. Sure no consensus to be found. My bubble tip came in about 2 months ago was fully bubbled up. Split within first 10 days. Neither one has moved more than a couple of inches since the split and haven't seen bubble extension since. Feed them about 2-3 times a week. Seem to be growing a bit, but still no bubbles. Got me....

I discovered the secret!! "

So you gotta find 6" high heels. Make sure they're stilletto.

Next, plain nylon pantyhose.

And a pretty dress.
Put on some soothing music...

Just kidding!!!

It's always been the great question. Make sure you still call it a bta or go by the scientific name of e. quadricolor as there is the long tentacle anemone, which has completely different care needs. (M. doreensis)

Mine has never bubbled in 10 years.
I've had them split. Some bubble and some don't after the split.
I've also had them bubble and lose their bubbles and all the sudden their bubbles are back.

4 times in ten years.

How big does it get before it splits?
It's about 10-12". I'm not sure this is the original one. It split the first time, and i sold one of them. Then it split again then both of those split. So i sold 3 of them. Now ive stopped feeding it, it's a pain in the You know what being them out of my tank.

Lol,
I hear ya!
I quit feeding mine too. Got tired off fishing them out after they split and I like seeing them get big.

The only spot feeding mine gets anymore is the urine from a female clownfish and porcelain crab that it host :D
