Budget 125 Gallon aquarium.

Hello everyone.

within the next couple months, I want to purchase a 125 Gallon Aquarium. I am looking for a budget aquarium Aqueon, Marineland or Seaphora brand. I want to set the tank up peninsula style so I will need to drill one end for an external overflow. Out of these brands I would like to know which one can or cannot be drilled. I do plan to purchase brand new. I would also like to see a photo of your 125 gallon set up peninsula style as well if you have a photo to share.

The only way to know if a specific tank can be drilled is to do a test with polarized glasses. These brands may typically use a certain type of glass but they will occasionally use what ever is available. Don't trust the manufacturer specs and always test the pane of glass that you plan to drill. I learned this the hard way. It is amazing how many bits of glass happen when you get this wrong! :oops:

Thank you for posting this video. I was just getting ready to ask about the polarized glasses test that was mentioned by Peace River. I am well aware of how tempered glass breaks into a million tiny fragments. I am a retired auto tech and have replaced enough broken windows and broken a few as well over the years. Yes you are correct i could very well contact Glasscages or Planet aquariums and order up a custom tank. However there comes a certain amount of pride & satisfaction out of being able to put a project together. Not to mention it's going to be 100% the way I want it to be when completed. If something doesn't quite go as planned or i mess something up, I've got nobody to blame but myself. The best lessons in my life have come from my failures, I am not afraid to make a mistake from time to time. I just pick up the pieces and do it different on the next attempt. I plan on doing many DIY projects on this build. I want to weld up my own stand and outfit it to suit my chosen equipment from a 40-gallon DIY breeder sump to building my own algae scrubber and utilizing a 10 gallon aquarium for an ATO reservoir. I am currently working on putting together a home built auto water changing system to integrate with my Hydros aquarium controller.
