I just went blind all the way over here in my lazy boy! Are you going to lower those later on when everything acclimates?

I will definitely be lowering them in the future "if" the corals acclimate to the LED'S,as of right now it is 9" above the water surface and color is coming back:D

Thanks Joe,The Gen 1 fixture from Luke came with 4xred LED's but the new more powerful Gen 2 fixture only has 2xred LED's.

Reading hurts this morning LOL, the light wasn't blue enough for you so you added one ReefBrite module? Is the main fixture dimable at all? Are you still seeing some growth?

The light was like a 18k-20k but still not blue enough for me:) .The fixture is not dimmable it is ran on 2 plugs and 3 panels of LED's.One plug turns on the middle panel and the other plug turns on the outer 2,that is one of the reasons I went with 2 all blue Reef Brites so I can have a "real" dawn/dusk poppin off:D .Growth is definitely there no doubt,I have been seeing things really taking off lately but I also have been dosing AA's and feeding my fish more.

So bay... you liking you some LED's, huh bro?
Can you tell JT??:tongue:Why dont you update us on yours??

Where can I find more info about LED fixture? Looking and dumping my sunpower
Thanks
I picked mine up from Luke at reeffiltration he is a sponsor here and has a thread with all the info you need on this exact fixture Im running, you can read all about them from this thread https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/reef-filtration/42108-led-pre-order.html ;)

Bay,
how is the visual quality of color going from T-5 to LED? Thinking of making the switch and don't want a washed out color.

I am all about more of a natural look and I didnt get that with T5's.I was ready to switch back to MH's and Luke put the LED idea in my head so I read, read, and read some more and with a little input from others who had already made the switch I myself pulled the trigger. The visual quality is much more of what I want out of my reef, from the shimmer to the hues the light gives my corals.I went through exactly what you are going threw before switching over and am happy with my decision so if you have any other questions please feel free to ask;)

Looking at picking up some more colors in my acans that don't show up under T-5, like the more natural look, like to be able to see diff color coraline aglea that gets lost wtih some bulb combinations. Too much light scatter in room. I like the idea of LED just not sure how the color shows up. A nice 15K color with pop would be sweet, too often you have to go almost 20K to get it.

I beleive the Gen 2 model that Luke sells is rated at around 14k,what are the dimensions of your tank?

bah im in the middle of this decision too... im moving and want to change from MH to T5 for heat issues. But I am thinking LED is better in the long run at least $ wise.

CB,if you are currently running MH's then most likely you have a sps dominated tank??If your trying to get rid of heat/cost then both T5's and LED's will work, cost wise LED's would be the best because with T5's I have seen people changing their bulbs anywhere from every 9-12 months.
