Just a little guy

I am off today, took an extra day off this week because Matt was off today as well.

It's chilly.

Going to finish fixing the salinity in the tank.

Something got at the quail last night. Killed 2 of them. Looks like they tried to pull them through from underneath once they couldn't get in through the top. Either raccoon or cat is my guess. :loudly-crying-face:

Not fun guessing critters. Harbor freight carries a good live trap. I like to set up a deer camera first to see what I'm working with. Definitely had my share of creepers getting into animal pens/enclosures.

Do quail just roost on perches or will they go into a coop at night?

Neither. Quail sleep on the ground.

I did not know that.

Quail are easy. If you already have a chicken coop you can add quail in cages above the ground in the coop or the run. Chickens will eat the food the quails drop and they share the same footprint so no extra room is needed. Same with rabbits.

Yeah all that @Mhamilton0911

Once we build the chicken coop, the quail enclosure is going inside for extra protection.

We haven't had issues with anything except hawks landing on it unsuccessfully up until now. There's a big dent in the roof as well. Wondering if the hurricane made food harder to get for something and that's why they got attacked. Hopefully it doesn't continue to be a problem.

We have 6 quail (now :crying-face: it was 8), a dog/horse (Greyhound), and the tanks. Working on clearing out area to build a chicken coop as well...

What else are you supposed to do with 2 acres?
