Cade Chaos Grimoire

[danieyella]

I just realized that this Wednesday I have ZERO plans or appointments or anything going on. Sounds like I'll be catching the filefish and taking him in so my zoas can recover

[danieyella]

Love cardinals.... my fav is the Bangaii..

I really like Bangaii, when I got my pajamas NO ONE had any bangaii locally, it was really weird.

[danieyella]

Not. Enough. Whiskey. In. My. Irish. Coffee. To. Get. Through. Today. o_O

Man, this weird cold snap in FL is killing my sleep lately. If I turn the heat on I'm super congested, so the decision has been to pile up blankets and leave the heat off instead. My back hurts :(

Luckily it's my day off and the dog let me sleep in until 9:30. It's tank maintenance day!!

Good morning everyone!

Morning habe to read back through. How is canary wrasse doing for you? Lots of catching up here.

He was a happy accident to be honest. When I got him, I actually ordered a lubbocks fairy wrasse and he showed up instead, very small. I was refunded and told to keep or rehome him, and despite reading everywhere that he may not be guaranteed reef safe I decided to give it a shot as I'd just sumped my six line.

He has not messed with any of my feather dusters or the shrimp in my tank, hermits and snails are doing just fine. I however cannot have berghia nudis because between him and the marine betta they're cleaned out.... hence the filefish who did his job and now is messing with some of the corals.

He's very difficult to get a photo of though

Beautiful fish. I picked up a tiny juvenile red corris not to long ago and no issues yet knock on wood. The canary was first choice though hope he stays good for you.

I *think* he will, I've had him over a year now and he's fully matured with no problems so far. If he ever turns sour on me it's going to be very difficult to catch and remove him. He's the only wrasse I've had that hasn't managed to hop into the overflow and wind up in the sump (and there's a cover over the overflow, I don't get it). I don't bother trying to add wrasse any longer.

Does he bury himself in sand when he sleeps? Mine already has a little routine. Up with lights on scavenging the rock all day until and back in his sand bowl a few hours before lights off. I have pods the size of mysis shrimp and since I put him in they are literally trying to climb put of frag tables. One of best investments I made for my reef so far. Hope it stays that way:)

You know to be honest he's always out and about.... I catch all the other fish sleeping but never him. I assume so though lol

Ready?
Jan 2019 (transfer from 20g tank to 90g). You can tell which rock was new and what was moved from the little tank. Look how barren!

Jan 2020, rock looks better. Tomini doesn't look like it's grown at all. Zoas spread.

Jan 2021 - granted I just ticked half the tank off rooting around in there. I really need to get that ff out so I can help my zoas bounce back, I miss them. I really need to clean that front glass at the bottom...

Gorgous. I love seeing progression and growth pics

Completely agree.

Tomorrow is the day I pack up the filefish and take him to the LFS... guess what I spotted in the tank today

Love your gorgs. Where do you get them from? I can't find any for sale.

Gulf coast ecosystems! Love them

IDK if I can do it, I might try increasing feedings to see if that stops him from nipping things. He's just so cute and pathetic looking I feel bad.

I did dose the aip I found, it was tangled in a small rock hole between the only 2 acros in the system so the filefish really couldn't get to it. Did a close inspection around the tank and don't see anymore whatsoever.

I think I might put off removing him for at least a week minimum, give him a chance to redeem himself, and see if anymore aips show up from the poisoning today that he can eat as well... He's been huddled in my pulsing xenia all day giving me sad eyes.

This thing is coloring interesting, since we're on the topic. The smaller one "above" it in the photo is the same thing, I broke a branch on accident. The orange filter on my camera alters the body color - the body doesn't look that orangey/tan color to the naked eye, more of a faint greenish blue.

[danieyella]

Oh, and for funsies:

[danieyella]

Husband turned the power off to do some electrical....
Look who's out!

[sfin52]

Amazing pics. Any way for the file fish to be a sump lord?
