Hello,
If you do decide to try a UV sterilizer the Jebao pond ones are powerful and much cheaper. They make a 36 watt one for under $80. I did not buy it to deal with dinos directly, I usually get them in all the tanks I start with dry rock, but I was in the middle of the dino process and it wiped them out incredibly fast. I got the 55w but im sure the 36w would also work.

Alright so back at another treatment plan after a couple of weeks ago doing a week of cleaning filters everyday and dosing 3% peroxide at night and lowest setting of blue light to having dinos back full swing. This round I plan on doing total blackout with the tank taped up so zero light will be able to get in. I've taken all of my livestock out and put in the frag tank because I don't want to risk their little lives after total blackout in December followed by the tank crashing. I will do a 3 day blackout with bubbler running 24/7 and dosing peroxide at night. I will run carbon and filter floss in the cannister and changing everyday. I've taken all of my rockwork and everything out of tank and will be scrubbing rocks and removing any pests and will be manually removing as many dinos from the tank as possible. Then putting the rockwork back in with the corals, and starting the blackout. After seeing all my clowns together in their little colony I believe I will start a colony in the main tank after all this has settled! They're so cute! Wish me luck guys! I will be posting updates.

Raise phospate. I have fixed dinos more times than you can imagine.

That's the stuff!

I have yet to find a dino case whereby phosphates being depleted is not the unifying factor.

Alternatively, you could dose water bears. I think they eat dinos hahah

They eat diatoms! The stuff I'm trying to keep to compete. But the lfs told me they've had success in freshwater Molly's that were acclimated to saltwater eating dinos, which I thought was very interesting.

5 day minimum as flagellates feed off of light. It’s wired as I did this method only Once in 2 different tanks and Dino NEVER came back, ever. It’s been at least 18 months

Bump your temp to 82 slowlyish, I read this on Reef Builders a while back and if UV and increasing nutrients didn't work that did. Have used it twice in separate sps tanks with success.

Blacking out your tank, just means leaving the lights off. Not wrapping the tank in plastic so it's completely dark. lol Strange things happen when you totally black out a tank for a few days. Please don't do that! Just leave your lights off, ambient room light will not hurt a thing.

For osteo dino's, 2 day lights off with a UV and increasing nutrients will defeat them every time. Very simple to do. Keep nutrients in the NO3 1 to 5, and PO4 anything above 0, but below .2 will out compete them every time.

I will also add, that dosing live phyto @ 1ml per gallon is the most healthy thing I have every done for my tank. If you look at my nitrates and phosphate levels, those numbers would tell you I should have rampant algae outbreaks, yet I have 0 thanks to the live phyto dosing.

As a side note......
If you don't want to go through the hassle of growing your own phyto, a reefer on here ships out phyto weekly, and at a very decent price. Just look up @Eldredge in the selling forum. I've been dosing live phyto for years, but this guys phyto is second to none, and I have never seen the turn around in my tank since I started dosing his about 3 months now.

I did that because it's right in front of a window and the paint on the backside has scraped off and I don't want the sun in. I'm just going with it. I have a plan and I'm following it through. Not sure about 5 days. Maybe since there's no light I will do only 3. I do plan on experimenting with brewing my own phyto though

I read they're cysts that float in the water column. The first time I ever seen dinos was on a frag my bf brought home and that was the beginning of this nightmare. So it's obviously getting transferred tank to tank. I dipped the corals that I took out of main tank and put zoas in my 6 gallon and then some other in frag/QT tank. No dinos the past month and a half in either tanks with corals dipped. Put fish and inverts in QT tank and now dinos in the QT. Could reef dip be killing the dinos and then when I introduced the fish and stuff they carried them over?

I took off the bags this morning. Will continue 2 days of lights out and microbacter7 in the day and peroxide at night. I can see some coralline dead and that I left one conch in, hope he's okay.
