My Living Lava chalice is going into meltdown started w/ milky haze(mainly in the blue colored areas) then receding to skeleton in the area. I had a simular problem a while back w/ Rastfarian and Pastel Watermelon chalices. Oddly all my other chalices are doing great (knock on wood!)
I do not believe that it was stung because the closest chalice is the Tyree Aquascene Golden Eye chalice and it is @ least 3-4" away. Surrounded mainly by Aussie Lords.
I changed my Ca reactor to a much lager unit w/ a secondary chamber. My alk went from 9 up to 14, I am pretty sure that was the culprit. I have done 10g wc each of the last 3 days and it seems to have slowed the death.
The question is should I frag the good area to save it. Unfortunately, this coral does not like to be fragged.
Any and all input is appreciated.

Alk 14
Ca 430
Mg 1340
Ph 8.3
PO4 .16
Temp 78
All others undetectable

Alk is way too high.................IMO chalices are one of the first LPS to recede in an alk spike or drop. Get your alk below 11...........I keep mine around 9.

Water changes will lower it slowly.........

That explains why it responded favorably to the WCs.
I will continue 10g/day untill I can dial in my reactor.
Thanks

WOW! That second chamber made a HUGE difference. I agree 14 is to high, even for SPS... I would keep up the water changes.

Its funny - alk gets to LPS first, but most other params don't hurt as much from my experience...they are pretty hardy
