Calmwaters Pico Build

What a cool tank idea! I agree with @Jojoreef, the Laurentia looks concerning. I have never tried to grow it so not sure what might help it. Hopefully it is just stressed from shipping and giving it a chance to settle will improve it. Opuntia is similar in that it turns white in shipping but then colors up after it settles in the tank.
Thank you! I'm excited to watch the tank fill in over time.

This one looks really cool, what is it?

If you have the lid resting on the air line tubing, the tubing will get kinked and flow will stop. I recommend taking a piece of larger tubing, cutting a half inch length piece then cutting it long ways and using it to stick on the lip of container to keep line from getting smashed. If this is a jar from anchor you can take a glass drill bit and carefully drill a hole or 2 in the top for the line.

So far it's holding up the tubing is pretty thick on the ATO line. I have no way to drill glass but what I can do is make something to support the weight of the lid this weekend. Maybe with a light diffuser panel or something.

Maybe there is a similar one that you can get in your country?

I play around with native local undocumented macroalgae but sometimes it would be good to have some of these more different ones to add to the mix. Here is just coral, chaeto, Caulerpa and brotycladia.

Hi everyone a group I'm in on Facebook is having a pico tank contest and since I had an empty 5 gallon sitting around I decided why not try my hand at a pico build. I'm a little behind others in the contest as sometimes as we all know life gets in the way of tank stuff. Yesterday I set it up added live sand and a small rock from my lfs that had two little red mushrooms on it. I had an extra HOB filter to use and a light as well. I plan on doing macroalgea, 4 sexy shrimp, a few easy softie corals, a small cuc and I am still trying to decide if I will add a fish and if so which one. I have dosed with Dr.Tims as well for an extra bacteria boost.

Following.

I got my package this evening finally one Sexy shrimp for sure is dead and another isn't looking good. Everyone else seems to be okay far as I can tell for now. I decided to put the hermits in the big tank in my acclimation box for the night to give the snails time to wake up. I think 5 of each may be over kill for this little tank so I might end up just keeping two of the ceriths, two of the Trochus and two of the Hermits in it and move the rest to the big tank. I am impressed with the size of zoas and hope they all make it.

I just ordered three beautiful RFA's for this tank they should be here this week. Going to do a water change in a bit and move a few cuc members to my big tank. I'm thinking if I leave two Ceriths, two blue legged hermits, and two Trochus it should be good. Or do you guys think three would be better?

That last one is a beaut.

I'm hoping this vendor is as good as the reviews I read. They have really good prices and even have a bunch of small frags for less than $10 and I like that they show pictures of them under different lighting.

Got some pictures of the zoas while doing the water change. One hasn't opened yet but I'm hoping it's just recovering from shipping still...
