Is that why sharks don't handle copper?
I don’t medicate fishes so I don’t know?

I have observed a shark hunting for a buried chunk of metal that fell into a store tank. It was really interested in eating that rusty hinge.

Will do thank you. Do you by chance know how this got in my tank? I had ich, did a full restart (washed the rocks and everything) then cycled it with no salinity to kill of anything, then brought the salinity up to 1.09 and left it for a few weeks then introduced my fish from QT back. Nothing new added in like 2 months
Can be stress from salinity, high salinity, addition of bag water from any recent purchase, pre-existing case where fallow period was not applied

This would be my guess as to where the ich came from.

If it’s a fish only tank, eventually yes. Fallow should have been 50-60 days followed by water change

I just saw that thank you very much
I would dose at 2 ppm and then raise it to 2.25. The eels may go off feed, but it won’t affect them long term, as long as they have good body mass going in to the treatment.

They do, all 4 are very thick and healthy.

So that fish never was in the same tank or water as any of these guys in my big tank. Which is why Im super confused

Any chance something got transferred between them? I’m talking about even using the same refractometer. Working on the tanks both the same day, etc.

I recently had an ich out break in my DT and was so confused and turns out my cat was sticking his paws in all my tanks and I had been treating a new fish in another room that actively had ich.

Yaaaa…

Now that you mention it I do think I might have accidentally used the same syringe to pull water out for tests as I did when I had the adult emperor angel bring something in the tank before all the QT and restart.

That’s all it really takes, I bought a ton of cheap Pipettes so I can toss them if contaminated. Or just put one by each tank.

Jeez lesson learned. That makes more sense though cause I was like everything is fine then 24 hours ago they showed signs which I thought was flukes. But lost a bunch overnight so clearly not flukes.

I have been running hypo at 1.09. But raised it slowly to 1.11 as of today.
I assume this is a typo? Typical reef tank salinity is 1.026... 1.09 is quite high, did you mean 1.009?

Never heard of this before.

lol, he’s a bengal and has an affinity for water. I should have seen it coming tbh.

This is my last tank and you can see him in the back about to dip a paw as I had removed the lid for a photo… but he also looks to be eying that yellow tang (yum!).

IMG_5791.jpeg

When I had ATI fixtures, he would lay on them or even swing them. He’s a booger.

My new tank has a canopy but it’s open.. however it was the external overflows he was dipping in!

I had my QT tank in the attached garage but gave the cats access in there when company was staying with us so they wouldn’t be annoying and I guess it was… I dip, you dip, we dip…

My other bengals don’t go playing in the tanks except once when I was filling an IM25g for the first time and one thought it must be a new swimming pool…

I am not a fan of cats but that one is beautiful. Very nice really :star-struck:

Still, if it were mine I’d treat it with copper if it made my fish sick.
