full bellies and 'thick' fish means a strong immune system-- nuff said
Exactly how I run my system. I don't qaurantine my fish, I'm 100% positive ich lives in my system. None of my fish ever show any symtoms unless I add a fish. I added my last fish for the forseable future, a blonde Naso a few weeks back, I observed all of them and the hippo, purple and green coris( pod and coral predator eater) developed a spot or 2 of ich along with the blonde naso. I continued with my heavy feeding regimen and impeccable water quality( tank is full of corals especially acros) and within a few days all signs of ich where gone just like always as I don't quarantine my fish. I think if your fish are very well fed the ich is just a small nuisance for them.

As long as your water chemistry is not detrimentally effected feed them all they want, they will be healthier for it, and they do get to a point where they are full. When I go fishing , during times when food is readily available for them and the fish are in a full blown feeding frenzy for as long as the excess food is available the fish are all very strong, have obese bellys and healthy and are very stout and solid. When food sources are not as readily available the fish are thin, lethargic( not strong fighting ) and also show signs of disease( leasions, open sores, parasites, etc..) So I apply the same to my fish, keeping them well fed and it seems to work really well.

I feed my fish a ton, definitely like having thick fish!

Just make sure it's a low fat diet...fish can get fatty liver disease.

They've been finding lionfish off the coast of florida with fatty liver because they've been eating too many of the native species that don't know to stay away from them.

I was concerned my fish were getting too fat while looking at my tank tonight. I feed them daily alternating frozen and flakes with pebbles.

I was cracking up looking at some of these pictures! I think my fish are fine after skimming this thread

My Salifin tang will not stop eating. Clams, Bring shrimp, Mysis, pellets, algae flakes, and flake food.
