Hey everyone, So I have a possibly stupid question. I have a piece of live rock that I really want to drill a couple holes in for frags. One, is that ok to do? And two, if I attempt this, and it breaks, is it still safe to put back in the tank? Any ideas on best way to drill the holes? My plan it to do it after a water change so I have old water in a bucket, take the rock out, hold it in the bucket just at the surface so I can drill a couple holes in it. I do have the right bits, I hope. I have some 3/8" and 1/2" concrete bits.

Nothing wrong with doing that. I wouldn’t bother rinsing it, either — free coral snow dosing.

Perfect! Thank you. Yeah I didn't plan on rinsing it, I will shake it off in the bucket of water and call it done. Does my plan sound like a good one overall?

Would not worry about taking the rock out of the water the drill will make a mes unless you have some help. A guy some time ago did that to peg his rock together instead of epoxy
