Can I dose copper without a test kit

Are you unable to order fish online from a reputable seller?
I live in Hawaii so I am able to catch fish. The problem with that is it is a gamble and sometimes I come back empty handed

I can’t buy fish online

Petco is my only LFS and they barely have any test supplies

Off topic, but I went to Maui a few weeks ago (got hit by both Kona storms back to back, terrifying :(). I tried checking out some tide pools for fun (importing fish to Canada would be a nightmare anyway) and I didn't have any luck. The biggest things I saw were some tiny minnows lol. I've always wondered how people manage to catch crazy stuff like puffers or tangs in tide pools there!

Man that sucks sorry that you had to go through that on vacation

Luckily I was off island on vacation in Australia

But in terms of tide pools I have caught so many convict tangs and eels and other cool stuff by:

Going at night (around 7 pm) at low tide, full moon is the best for being able to see things and also just better luck for some reason

I always go to sugar beach tide pools and I’ve caught a giant zebra eel and so may tangs there

Also wear a headlamp and bring multiple sizes of nets

If you ever come back remember this :)

Oh wow, this is so helpful. Thanks a lot for the tips! We only tried going to Keawakapu beach during the day. It was low tide, but it was pretty windy, so I couldn't really see much there.

I'm definitely coming back again, we go every year, Maui is such a special place to us :) We usually stay at Menehune Shores for the first part of the trip, so Sugar Beach is pretty close from there.

Maybe I could message you next time I'm there? But no pressure at all. It could be fun to check the tide pools out together :)
