I plan on building this with black 4040. (The top three bars are for light mounting.) I think everything should be good, but wanted to get some eyes on it.

It will house a 50 gallon frag tank. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Looks ok, something with a door allows you to put things inside without looking messy? But perhaps a little harder to build or buy?

Its going inside a 5' x 6' closet (about as close as I'll ever get to a fish room lol) so no need for doors just yet.

Looks nice. Any fuge underneath? If so a little extra head room to get in and work perhaps. My dream tank will have extra head space down low and if I can extra length to create a shelf next to rank forvtesting and dry storage underneath.
Edit Scratch that pic loaded as I was typing. That’s gonna be a sweet space

Thanks! It will be plumbed through the wall into the sump that sits underneath a (future) 120 gallon. I'll probably just do a separate pump that goes through the wall, into a chiller, then into the frag tank. Haven't quite got that far in planning yet, though.

Outside of the chiller, everything underneath this stand/frag tank will be storage.

I would use 1by2 on the vertical. This way the top can sit on the vertical as well as the bottom which is more stable.
I was going to have one made and that is how they recommened and designed it.
However I went with welded steel.

Sorry my tank was a 120. You could use 1by 2 for your build for more stability if your t slot is 1". A guy on youtube used the 3 corner connector that each bar bolts into and i think it was a 36" stand. Looks good either way.

4040 is 1.57 x 1.57. I wonder if 1x2 is overkill for a 50 gallon? Especially with all the corner brackets I'll be using. I definitely plan to use 1x2 for the 120g stand, though.

Man... the cost of t-slot always surprised me.
Cost for a build like this: 475$+ for standard, 650$+ for black.
Using 2 x 4 instead: less than 30$!

I might just stick with wood.

Here is another option depending on the size of your frag tank
Uline shelving.
My frag tank is 36x24x12.
I painted it with rubber spray paint as it comes powdercoated grey.
Replaced the fiber board with ply and sealed it in rubber too.
40 gallon breeder sump.
You can get them in 36x18x36 for d

ual breedders.
The shelves are rated at 1800lbs.
