Hey guys. So I'm setting up a mostly softies, some lps, and very minimal to no sps corals frag tank soon. I'm planning on getting the IM Lagoon 25 for this build but was curious on lighting. I've been debating now on lighting. I'm new to this side of things as the tank I have now is a biocube that already has LEDs installed. Any advice? I've been looking at Kessils, the black box, and Ocean Revive. I've seen mixed reviews on all of these from Kessils not supporting growth on coral, black box not emitting enough par near the edges and having hot spots. So. I'm asking you guys. What are your experiences with these fixtures? Do you think they'll cover a 24" x 20" x 12" tank well, promote good growths do coloring? Other ideas for lighting fixtures?

IMO Kessil not supporting growth on coral is bs. Everyone I know with kessil has no problem growing their coral.

I really like the shimmer they give off as well as the gooseneck stand. I wouldn't know what size or particular one to get either. Any ideas? Not sure the differences between them.

I'd think an A360we would be better, or even better, two A160we, because the tank has long/wide dimensions of 24" x 20". I have a 24 x 24 frag tank I use for frag swaps, and I have to use two A160we for it.

Have you checked out Aqua Illumination? Their prime HD is perfect for a biocube... I’ve got one on a 28g Nano cube right now. My corals are looking great.

You can set up a schedule and control each lighting color individually from a smartphone app too.

EDIT: didn’t read tank type correctly... it should still be fine though. My Nano cube is 18x24 and the spread is great.

Somewhat on a budget. Trying to be cost effective as well. I'll look into maybe 2 a160we's then. Thanks for your help!

I haven't seen those. I'll have to look at those as well :)
