Can I re-use sand

I just bought a used 100 gallon tank that came with rock and sand. Im not going to use the rock as it was covered in cyano, but was hoping to use the sand. I took all the sand and washed it real well in a fresh water bath and am now letting it sit over night in fresh water in hopes it will kill any remaining cyano. You think I can use it or not?

Yep you can reuse it. Let it dry out in the sun for a couple of days.

The concern I have with reusing sand is that it can absorb PO4 and leach it back like rock does (same principle). I've always used mine as lawn filler... I used to reuse everything, then decided to change out when I broek down a tank/moved a tank, etc (depending on how long it had been set up before I broke it down).
