Can I rely on Dr. Reef alone for quarantine?

I can answer for me:

I have neither the equipment, the time, nor the knowledge to do a QT myself. I view it like hiring other experts in life. It often makes sense.

Since you are a scientist - you can easily review the results of polls, etc of how many people quarantine at all in R2R it's probably 40-50 percent. So - it's possible that those are quarantining are doing nothing about what the average aquarist is doing.

We are not perfect. We have our share of problems and issue like any company. We dont hide and give run around when it comes to issues.
Flukes had been an issue we had and we are overcoming it. There are some flukes out there that are prazi resistant. We changed our protocol due to some peoples complaints and we will continue to change as long its we have the feedback. End goal is to provide healthy fish to our clients.
Anyone that bought from us and had reported an issue, we didnt ask them a million questions or run around, we got to the root of the issue and replaced entire livestock in many cases even if they didnt purchase some of the fish from us.
We move a lot of fish and if there was an issue with a single batch, internet will light up with hundreds of customers having the same issue reported all over. You wont find that. There are isulated incidents and in which some of it is our fault and some added non qted livestock in their tanks from other sources. Truth is always in the middle.
Rest assured if your tank has livestock related issue from our fish, you will find us helpful, caring and understanding. willing to work on ridding the problem and replacing anything and everything at no cost to you. Thats our guarantee.

Note: Please report any issues like mentioned in this thread about skinny fish or losing fish after few days etc. Unless you tell us we cant replace them. Trust me we do replace them for free in most cases without any harsh questioning.
Anyone that reported lost fish in this thread, please screenshot your post and send us email at [email protected] and we will replace them for you even though much time might have past. We want you to be happy with your purchase.

I doubt your flukes are 'praziquantel resistant' as compared to undertreated. No offense

Reason for that is on the leopards, they normally don't make it through qt and we have to start with many to ship 1. Also every one that orders a leopard wrasse gets 2 because they are bad qt and bad shippers.
Tang on the other hand is not the case and we can pass a better price on it to customer.
Prices are drived from calculating basic business risk on each item.
Bad shippers/ bad to do in qt items will retail for more because of the reason stated above.

Secondly I don't even wanna get into cost and retail. Most hobbyist don't even have a slight idea when it comes to that.
Bigger the seller you are bigger the discounts and lower the cost, specially when you start importing your own fish and have divers all around the world.

Equipment is no different. This is why you find cheaper prices on some of our low mortality fish and our Equipment online is cheaper than most retailers.

Just look at this way. If we were not making money at lower prices, whoukd be be around strong as ever, going 8 yrs commercially.

That makes 100% sense. I understand the retail side of it from my own business and i had a feeling it could be just simply due to the number of them that it takes to make 1 survive i just didn't want to make that assumption. I think the prices are more than reasonable with that in consideration.

I haven't seen this - however it seems to me to be an extremely poor part of the warranty - I would not buy fish from anyone with this warranty

With all due respect you have no idea of some customers we have to deal with.

I explained the reasons already but let me explain again
We have to draw the line somewhere.
People buy fish from us and start subjectting them to hard treatment and fish dies. They don't tell us that directly it slips out in questioning sometimes.
Why do you want us to be responsible for their neglect?
Or how can we be sure that we sent a bad fish or they killed it due to treatment?

One guy (here on r2r) caused that policy to go up 3 or 4 months ago. We didn't have that policy prior.
He bought 3 or 4 geometric pymgy hawkfish from us and they were quarantined.
He subjected them to further more harsh treatments and they quit eating and died 21 days later.
A simple Google search can tell you this particular fish cannot survive more than 7 to 10 days not eating.
21 days later he openly posted a forum and tried to sue us for fish not eating as false advertising.

How else do you recommend to avoid such situations?

And you are wrong again. Prazi itself calls for 2 treatments 5 to 7 days apart.
We do that l. Its in the procedure and our protocol.

Some flukes do not die with just 2 rounds of treatment. Most do. These so called (generic term) prazi resistant flukes need further treatments or stronger dose.
You don't have to believe me. Jay has written that in many forums about it.
We keep fish for 30 days with 14 days in copper and rest 14 in prazi (dosed twice 7 days apart)
Its more than enough to rid most all issues in most fish.

I started my post with "we are not perfect" and we don't claim to be. As things evolve we evolve and change protocols.
Today's protocols are not what we started off with 8 yrs ago.
Also we only claim to treat for 4 major diseases ich velvet brook uronema and some internal worms and flukes.
There are million other things that can be wrong with fish that we don't treat for. Also qted fish does not mean it cannot get sick again.
If you place a perfectly healthy cured/qted fish in a tank that is infected, it will get sick again.
There are way too many variables when it comes to qtying.
At the end of the day, we do listen and we do change what needs to be changed for better.

I’ve read some posts from people who have not had good experiences but those I’ve read come down to people not reading his TOS. He suggests an observation period, and makes no guarantee that his qt procedures are 100% successful. His TOS also very clearly state that additional MEDICATED quarantine performed by the buyer is a violation of his TOS. Completely reasonable.

That being said, his process is just about the best you’ll find out there. Nothing is 100%, but he’s dang close. Close enough for me anyway.

Thank you. We try and when we fail, we dont hide.
We replace and make up for losses. We rather take a loss than let customer that paid from his hard earned cash to let it flush down the toilet.

I openly ask Anyone that got any disease and they reported to us. Whether it was our fault or not. We replaced their entire loss. If this statement is incorrect feel free to post.
Conditions are, 1. There was a disease/issue and 2 you reported to us.

I dont know if we can be even more transparent and ethical than this.
