Can polyps grow back?

If a millie, tenuis, or acro lose its polyps from one tank, can the polyps grow back once it is transfered to another tank with better flow, nutrients, and lightning..... or will the polyps be lost forever?

Tissue can grow back over skeleton and polyps will come back.
