Just a thought and haven't been able to find anything searching the board, but what are the chemistry implications with trying to use a Kalk reactor to mix calcium hydroxide with tank water instead of RO water? Not so much for calcium and alkalinity control but for raisin pH when needed.

The kalkwasser will precipitate out if you use tank water. Not an option I would want to do.

I believe that the high pH of the CaOH would cause precipitation of some components of salt water.

So adding a small amount of Kalk to a tank does not cause this, while pushing tank water up through a kalk reactor like the two little fishies Kalk reactor would be a problem?

Absolutely. You will instantly precipitate magnesium hydroxide at the pH attained. You will also precipitate calcium carbonate.

Searching for Kalk Slurry might get you some more hits. This is what people called it when just dumped kalk into their tanks for pH, or other reasons.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
