Can you keep Kalkwasser in plastic?

I stored mine in Rubbermaid brutes,which are polyethylene and of similar chemical resistance to polypropylene.
I would definitely prefer polyethylene, but this is for a friend and he doesn't have room in the under cabinet for a Rubbermaid trash can so it needs to be behind the aio and also be reasonably attractive /unobtrusive. Brute would be ideal :)

Home Depot or Ace Hardware sells HDPE (High density polyethylene) 5 gallon buckets, which is perfect for that use. They come with lids.
