AI Nero 3
Hydor 425

SG 1.025

looking to upgrade to AI prime for lighting and maybe a sicce 1.0 return in the near future.

Mocha and snow storm clowns, paired up after a few weeks, love the blue hue on the snow storm. feed them mysis for the most part or a few pellets if I feed heavy the day before.

I definitely recommend the Sicce 1.0. The stock pump on this tank just didn't do it for me, and the improvement in flow with the Sicce was immediate and impressive.

Some early stock, started off with a few palys/zoas from fragbox and a couple local purchases throughout the months.

I have an obsession with zoa/palys and will be attempting to have the front left of the tank set up as a garden, as well as an acan area most likely on the right side along the “front” of the tank.

Hammer is currently in my “centrepiece” spot and is filling out nicely, even though I plan on having a different euphyllia there in the future. (Gold torch preferably).

Decided to try out some marble that I had laying around as platforms for some frags to grow out on, basically pure calc rock so figured it should be reef safe and even potentially speed up coralline adherence, maybe even help with some stability in the water.

Plus it looks kind of cool, it’s heavy so no issues with pushy cucs, and easy enough to break when I decide to frag off them.

Not very easy to see I have to apologize but this was something very interesting that had happened, the blue sympodium released tiny blue balls over the course of a day, I’m not really sure what it is as I’m not the most experienced reefer but I am under the assumption that it’s some sort of spawning? Please enlighten me if anyone can shed some light on this, there’s minimal info on the coral that I could find in my attempts to research it.

Pic from beginning of December 2020, I decided to invest in an aquafx glacial rodi unit as the ro I’ve been sourcing isn’t what I want and I’ve been having minor issues with what appears to be cyano. Not sure what type, and I’m sure it’ll work itself out as it’s still a new tank but going to eliminate the easy factors that I can control.

Only other hiccup I’ve ran into (so far) is that I had an issue with tiny white dots with almost translucent hairs coming from them on some of my zoas/palys. Couldn’t positively ID what it was, definitely not pox and didn’t appear to be hydroids as there was no connection between them or head etc. Very strange, any research that I could find similar cases no one could give a definitive answer as to what it is either.

many recommended hydrogen peroxide as a remedy in the cases I found but I decided to attempt an approach using lugols iodine.

1 cup of tank water with 4 drops of lugols and softly Q-tipped around the polyps, left them in the dip for 8ish mins and returned them to the tank and added more flow to their area. Polyps weren’t too happy with the scrub but the problem disappeared the next day, it’s been a week and no sign of return, polyps are definitely less irritated as well.

my utter chaos looked like they were goners prior to the treatment and they’ve made a complete 180 so far .

if anyone has any questions about what I’m talking about I’m sure I can find one of the posts on these forums to show a clear pic of what the ailment looks like, I didn’t take any pics of it.

Made it past a coralRX dip, but the zoas seem to enjoy the cleaning from it so it’s a good thing for now.

other hitchhikers that I’ve encountered are a mini bristle starfish, 2 chitons(love these guys, they do an incredible job cleaningand a bristle worm.

I have a dollar sized bivalve that came with a zoa frag from a local reefer that I took off the plug prior to a dip and it’s made itself at home attached to my blue sympodium colony, Will attach a pic of it in the near future.

I am amazed daily at the symbiotic relationships that occur in my little glass box of ocean.

current livestock
Mocha storm and snow storm clownfish
Skunk cleaner shrimp
2 nas snails
2 turbos
1 astrea
1 trochus
1 bumblebee
2 blue leg hermits
1 dwarf hermit

Red cap monti
green finger leather
Purple tip green hammer
Blue green sympodium
Plutonium bounce shroom
Green purple lord
Unidentified acan (will post close up to inquire and update, still getting colours, mainly red)
Utter chaos
Armageddon
Scrambled eggs
Interstellar
Pink flamingo
Sunny D
Nirvana
Rainbow incinarator
I think they’re Radioactive dragon eyes and reg dragon eyes I need to post in zoa ID to get a positive on them.

+1 on the Sicce pumps. Quiet and considerably more flow (and options)
