Candy cane growth branches

Noticed my candy cane has started to grow what look like branches from it's base, there are 3 and one is starting to curl over the top of the coral.
Do I leave them be or cut them back?

The picture is blue and kind of hard to see, but it looks like those are vermetid tubes, I would get rid of that.

Those look like veremetid snail tubes. Break them off at the base, it will kill them instantly.
