Candy cane head…or something else?

Guys. I have candy canes and was excited when a new yellow “thing” started appearing. It has not developed into a head. More just a lump. Is this normal? See pics. The new lump is the lower one. With no tentacles. I see a mouth of sorts but looks unusual. Advice needed!
