I was just woundering what is the correct way to run carbon in a tank.

I run carbon for 72hrs in a row and then discard it,and repeat this process every month.

some people run it for a week, some all the time and change it every month.

Is there a correct way?

Mike

IMO…If you are going to run carbon then run carbon. I can see no benefit in only running it for a few days once a month. If anything I would think this would be stressful for the tank. Causing fluctuations in the organic load of the system is not a good way to keep things stable.

24/7. I replace it once a month, sometimes more often depending on how many corals I've had in my system and what they were. I replace most often on SPS and heavily stocked soft coral holding systems.

24/7 replaced every couple O' months. I have a small tank though, and use a carbon bag thats bigger than needed.
