carpet anemone tentacles disappearing

I have had my haddoni for about two weeks now in QT. It mouth is slightly open yet, but has planted its foot on the bottom of the tank firmly. I noticed the other day a few tentacles almost disappeared down to a nub almost. Well today I noticed the area is growing. Almost to a quarter size now. So far testing has shown parameters to be right on, with nitrates being a bit high, but I am doing daily water changes to bring them down. So far it has been 5-10 ppm at most.

What the heck is going on?

What inverts do you have?

There are two clowns in there, false percs. No inverts. There was one turbo snail till yesterday.
