Cats and reefing. Frustrating?

I can't talk for all cat owners but it seems every time I do maintenance on my tanks, my cats start throwing fits. Maybe it's breed specific(I like to think not) but I have two Bengal cats that start screaming for attention whenever I look at my tanks. lol

Honestly, I give my cats more attention than people. They wake me up for food. I play with them for exercise. They get in my lap when I'm on the computer and they let me know when they like a good message. But as soon as I look at my tanks or start prepping water for a change or even breaking out dosing bottles for manual dosing, they get jealous. They now think when I go to feed my fish, they should be fed.

Anyone else go through this?

My cat likes to sit on top of my tank (I have a lid) and bat at my head while I get stuff out from inside the stand.

I have 3 cats and 1 of them especially wants to go after the fish in the tank. They don't so much want my attention but really want the fish.

I have two cats, the older one like to watch and Charile is with me every step the way trying to help. Both the cats have company emails

My cat tried to jump on top of my Euro braced tank when it was new and empty & ended up falling right though the top. After landing on his nose on the bottom he went into panic mode. That was over a year ago and he still gives the tank a wide berth.

Bengals can be pretty demanding little turds when they want to be. I've also heard they like water, so maybe they want to take a swim in the tank? Haha We have three cats. My old guy could care less. He doesn't even look at the tanks. As for the other two, one will sit by the tanks and watch the fish. He jumps up at our 90 gallon freshwater tank fairly often too. He doesn't jump at my Biocube, but likes to watch it. I'll be interested to see what he will do once we have actual fish swimming around in our 68 that's cycling. They also seem to have an acquired taste for air tube because they will chew through it if they can get to it. Thankfully there is no airline tube anywhere to be found near the new tank because their heads would roll if I caught them messing with that one. Haha

Demanding, is an understatement. However, they try to communicate their needs for me. I can usually ask what it is they want and either one will walk me to it. These two are litter mates. Brother and Sister. Usually where the brother goes, sister follows. That said, the girl likes water more than the boy. Niether one seems interested in the tanks. Only time they show interest is when company is over, and their last resort to getting my attention, is acting like the fish are interesting. Other than that, 'they are more important' ;)

I've had freshwater tanks for 4 years with these two. They never seemed so jealous with them as they are with the salt. I guess they see my interest in salt more so than fresh. I still have a 20 long planted tank. What is in your 90? I've always wanted a planted discus tank.

My Bengal was pretty demanding as well.....would go as far as to jump in the sink to play in the water while I was brushing my teeth. If you turned water on anywhere in the house, he would show up within seconds.

Zoie is a timid cat and enjoys watching the tank, she will sit on the back of my office chair and watch the fish swim around while I work, or here posting. At this point of her life all she really care about is treats, food and raw diet add ins to her food.

Charlie on the other hand was introduced in my build thread, for the reason he is my shadow, I would say he process everything I do. Charlie picked me I did not pick him. A friend I know rescues cats all the time, and keeps the kittens at his office. One day I came in to say hello and Charlie jump across his desk and started climbing all over me, the friend said that he is my cat now. Charlie came home a couple of week after that. The tank is in his house and he want to make sure that I do thinks right or he will tell me.

Here is Charlie helping me make filter socks, notice how he holds down the craft felt so it will not move. Could have not done it without him.

Friend of mine rescued a farrel tuxedo. When we first met him he was about 4 pounds or less and close to death. He was so dehydrated his nose was cracking. We started with some partially cooked steak in small bits. After a few days he started to speak. He made deep "murrow" rather than a meow sound. And being so skinny, we named him ET. Today, he's still an outdoors cat but is the most dominant in the neighborhood. Kind of shy but once he gets to know you, its like all honour and respect that could be given from wild life, is handed to you. Very cool cats in my experience.

LoL We keep them in the house, for the reasons of the aggressive drivers and wild life that would eat them here in central Florida. They do have a chubby cat door to the screen in front porch so they can go outside when they want. We keep the screen door lock also. Charlie has the low purr too. I agree Tuxedo's are unique, and he is everyone's friend too.

I was just looking at pictures and It is Charlies second birthday today, I guess it will be plenty of laser pay and fetch for him today. ;)
