Should I be concerned about this sliver of white on these frags? I recieved them one week ago today (7 days ago, Wed 1/12). They each have a sliver of white at the base where the coral flesh meets the plug. Is this the beginning of STN?

Params:
Nitrate: 5 ppm
Phos: 0.08 ppm
Alkalinity: 8 dKH
Magnesium: 1400 ppm
Calcium: 431 ppm

Lights: 2x G5 Radion XR15 Pro - set to AB+ - corals getting around 220par right now as I slowly ramp the lights back up to around 325 PAR

Any input would be greatly appreciated. This is my second attempt at SPS corals. Last time I tried them was almost a year ago and I learned quite a bit then. But now, I feel I've got everything as it needs to be for these guys to thrive and just didn't expect to see this, if in fact it is STN...

Anyway. Thanks in advance for your opinions, considerations, advice, etc...

Happy Reefing!! 20220119_192003.jpg

I guess that could be the case?? But I've personally never seen new growth so I don't what to look for....is that what new basing growth can look like?
does this sliver of white not color up under blues?

based on the picture provided they do seem happy. so i am going to assume this is not STN

po4 at 0.08 although not exceedingly high, could be a possibility.

as well as the lighting. i understand you’re ramping it up slowly but perhaps not slow enough?

I certainly hope your right! Anything I should look for over the next couple days to confirm?
I know this wasn't directed at me, but if it is STN then the tissue will continue to fall off of the skeleton farther and farther up the coral. If that line moves farther down it's just growth, which I'm pretty confident is what you're seeing.

Looks like new growth to me! Frags look great. I wouldn't change a thing!
Take some more pics in another week, and compare.
Thank you. I certainly feel a little better after hearing the comments and input here. I'll just keep plugging along doing what I'm doing and hopefully the new growth talk will prevail.

Thanks for the input!

Definitely new growth IMO. STN is a more obvious and defined line.

its a little mixed...two of the sticks are definitely showing signs of STN imo...the other 3 are still hanging in there and look good...i've sent off for ICP test so should have that soon hopefully - everything i know to do/keep at certain levels is at those targets. i will try to get some pics later today and share here for input/thoughts

So it's been about a week and 3 of 5 are showing good signs. That's something to be positive about! :D

Keep us in the loop on your ICP test results.
